It’s the epitome or ‘80s GM... A winning formula that came so close to greatness, but was ruined by cost cutting.

I couldn’t tell you if it was ruined or not. I never got to drive one, but ‘80s me always wanted to. I’d love to have one to cruise around in.

They were generally known as beautifully conceived, and poorly executed. Lots of quality control issues and leaky convertible tops in the beginning, but most everything was ironed out by the later models. Again, typical GM. Launch a product before it’s ready with lots of flaws, destroy the brand image, make it known as a thing to avoid, then fix the flaws and improve the product to what it should have been all along just in time for no one to buy it. Yes, I grew up with the common wisdom that one never buys the first model year of a GM car. Of course, then I broke that rule for my first two cars.
